Is the big duck an event fixture, or does it not always make an appearance? It's stunning to me how gigantic that semi-circle of people is. Taking bicycles was a good idea. It does seem like it might be fun to ride back and forth among the rows looking for sensory experiences. That said, as much of a hedonistic playground as Burning Man is, I'm not sure that I wouldn't be overwhelmed by that many people to the point of not being able to drop my inhibitions.

I think it is not always there. I looked for it in 2011 and was crestfallen for awhile that it was not there.Speaking of crests, in the duck pic above, the duck's crest was supposed to be burning. I watched them try to ignite that thing for about 20 minutes. I was mesmerized watching the gas torches ignite then blow out over and over.Originally posted by 0x29a:

It may sound cliche, but I think it's best to do what ever you want there, and if that means being inhibited sometimes, that's OK. Heck, there are AA meetings at Burning Man, even Bible study.

    Yeah, that's bizarre.
